    Fantagraphics Books - NEW STORE

Fantagraphics, the beloved local comic book publisher has finally opened its own store in Seattle as of last week. During the 80's and 90's I was a rabid fan of Love & Rockets, and always make a point to stop by their booth at Comic-Con. You can be sure I'll be stopping in sometime soon.

Be sure to check out FLOG!: The Fantagraphics Blog for more information, including pictures. And then stay tuned for a lot of great shows and events to come in 2007. In other words, start making your Seattle vacation plans NOW, and if you have friends in Seattle that might be interested, please pass on the news. Here's the 911: FANTAGRAPHIC BOOKS 1201 South Vale Street Seattle, WA 98108 Mon. - Sat 11:30 - 8 Sun 11:30 - 5 206-658-0110

    Comic Con Count Down

And so it begins... for the last few years in late summer, the "Peter Pans" of tech - the ones who still have comic pull boxes and action figures proudly on display descend on San Diego. I speak of the mecca of all things pop culturish Comic Con International. Our numbers continue to grow, even as the gaming suite we book gets more and more crowded. What else is disposable income for, if not the mining and restoration of our childhood dreams?

Hmm before I wax any more poetic, just wanted to remind everyone that sign-ups for rooms for Comic Con start on 2/15, and the best rooms always go quick. If you're reading this and want to hang out at Con, drop me a line or leave a comment!

May the Schwartz be with you!

    Books for Recovering artists

Well I've made good on my promise to get more artistic. In the last few weeks I've been taking illustration classes at the Kirkland Arts Center, as well as Flash animation classes at Bellevue Community College. Because of my tech background, its been easier to dive into Flash, but even the old illustration skills are coming back. Just need to spend more time practicing both. I'll work on getting some of my artwork, old and new, posted on Flickr so I can share it with friends.

In the meantime, take a look at some of the books in the Book List on the right if you're also interested in tapping your creative side. For a more in-depth list and some add'l info about each book, check out my Books for Recovering Artists List on Amazon.com.
